Lisa S. Glasser regularly leads or co-leads Irell & Manella LLP teams on blockbuster litigation victories while also serving on the firm’s three-person firmwide Management Committee, as a member of its Executive Committee, and as vice chair of the Litigation group.

As co-lead counsel, Ms. Glasser recently scored more than $500 million in jury verdicts for USAA against Wells Fargo and PNC Bank involving patents for remote deposit technology, including a 2022 $218.45 million verdict against PNC for willfully infringing four USAA patents.

Ms. Glasser also secured a $59.5 million verdict for DePuy Synthes, a Johnson & Johnson company, following a 2023 trial in the Middle District of Florida. The jury found Veterinary Orthopedic Implants (VOI) and Fidelio Capital AB willfully infringed two DePuy patents relating to medical devices for the treatment of canine knee injuries and awarded the full amount of damages requested. The court subsequently granted a permanent injunction barring the defendants from marketing or selling the infringing devices.

Among other recent victories, Ms. Glasser in 2021 led the team that secured a $60 million settlement for Glaukos in litigation against Ivantis involving patents for novel glaucoma treatment technology. She scored a string of key summary judgment victories prior to the settlement. Also in 2021, she co-led the team that obtained a $48 million jury verdict for the City of Pomona in an environmental trial relating to the city’s polluted water supply. Both cases were in the Central District of California.

In another big win for USAA, Ms. Glasser in 2023 led the team that convinced an Eastern District of Texas judge to dismiss a suit in which Mitek sought a declaratory judgment that its software doesn’t infringe USAA patents for remote deposit technology.

Additionally in 2023, Ms. Glasser was a principal member of the team that obtained a $303.15 million willful infringement verdict for Netlist in an Eastern District of Texas trial against Samsung involving computer memory technology patents.

Ms. Glasser has been selected to the Daily Journal’s “Top IP Lawyers” and “Top Women Lawyers” lists and The Recorder’s “Women Leaders in Tech Law” list. She’s also been recognized as a National Law Journal “Winning Litigator” and as a Law360 “Trials MVP,” to name just a few of her many honors.

She earned her J.D. magna cum laude from Duke University School of Law, and her B.A. summa cum laude in Economics from University of St. Thomas.
