Based in Geneva, Lance Bartholomeusz is General Counsel at UNHCR. Before taking on this role in 2016, he was director of legal affairs at UNRWA. He leads a team of 25 lawyers across the globe, handling contract negotiations, employment issues and litigation, among other matters. His responsibilities include legal support to field operations, governance advice to senior leadership, and oversight of complex legal and policy issues arising from UNHCR’s global mandate.
