Klaus Dimigen gives advice to shipowners regarding the sale and purchase of vessels and the entering into charter and management contracts. He assists banks as well as shipowners in the area of long term ship financing loans, the establishment and separation of banking syndicates related to long term ship financings and in connection with the termination, enforcement and transfer of shipping loans. He also supports shipowners on all corporate and insolvency related issues. Finally, he advises non bank capital providers in connection with alternative ship financing models and structures.
Being admitted for practice in Germany, Klaus works on all German law related matters, such as account pledges or matters related to entities incorporated in Germany and contentious matters, whether related to shipping or not.
Klaus Dimigen enjoys a long lasting relationship with Turkish shipowners and shipping banks. Further, he is admitted to practice in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. He provides opinion letters related to this jurisdiction, gives advice on corporate matters and pursues contentious matters at the High Court in Majuro, Marshall Islands. Also, the Marshall Islands law related work is not entirely related to shipping.
Klaus Dimigen has held various lectures, workshops and seminars for clients on selected legal topics. He is a lecturer at the HSBA – Hamburg School of Business Administration and teaches on aspects of “Maritime Law” for the part-time course Shipping (MBA).
Career
Klaus Dimigen is recommended as a leading and recommended maritime lawyer by Chambers Global, JUVE Handbuch and Who’s Who Legal. In 2022, Chambers has set out that “market sources consider him the main person in Europe for Marshall Islands shipping issues.”
