Kelly undertakes a full caseload of contentious and non-contentious IP matters.
Career
Kelly qualified in August 2010 and is presently handling several IP matters scheduled for trial in the Chancery Division of the High Court and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court. Kelly is also acting for a Part 20 Defendant in significant Competition proceedings. Kelly also handles non-contentious matters and for over 3 years spent one day per week working on secondment at J Barbour & Sons Ltd, acting as the company’s brand protection officer dealing with a wide range of IP matters. Kelly advises on trade mark and design prosecution, portfolio management, and licensing: she manages the non-contentious side of practice in the firm. She was made a Senior Solicitor in October 2012, a Senior Associate in January 2015 and a Director in September 2017. In July 2015, Kelly successfully cross-qualified as a Trade Mark Attorney having undertaken further post graduate study.
Personal
Kelly graduated from Northumbria University in 2008 with a First Class LLB Hons. Exempting Degree in Law and was awarded the Watson Burton prize for best overall performance on her degree on graduation. Kelly was also awarded the Newcastle Law Society Northumbria University LLB Exempting Degree Prize 2008.
