Career
Since I was called in 2006, my practice has encompassed a wide variety of chancery and commercial litigation, with a particular focus on insolvency, company, probate, and property work. I am an experienced junior, comfortable in any level of court or property tribunal, generally as sole counsel even in complex matters.
My focus within insolvency cases tends to be on officeholder work. I also act for debtors and defendants. I'm frequently instructed in misfeasance actions, including transactions at an undervalue, preferences, and unlawful dividends. As a result, I'm used to considering an IP’s commercial and professional goals within the context of litigation.
In company work, I have experience with shareholder disputes and breach of directors’ duties, as well as claims concerning breaches of warranty under share purchase agreements. This latter area can raise complex legal issues with which I am familiar.
My probate practice covers cases concerning the validity, interpretation and rectification of wills; claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975; and challenges to wills on the grounds on lack of testamentary capacity, want of knowledge and approval, and undue influence.
My property work often overlaps with my insolvency and probate practices, as I specialise in disputes relating to beneficial interests in real property/trusts of land and proprietary estoppel. I also do a significant amount of complex mortgage work, usually for large commercial lenders.
