Karime Jassen Avellaneda is a Senior Associate with over 10 years of experience advising domestic and international clients on capital markets, structured finance, securitizations, private equity and investment funds. She holds an LL.M. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where she was a Merit Scholar. Karime is widely regarded by clients as a go-to lawyer for complex capital markets and investment fund matters and is frequently requested by name to lead transactions, including mandates for Fondo de Fondos, Kans Capital, AIONPI, Unda Capital, JMMetepec and Lock Capital.
She regularly leads matters independently on a day-to-day basis, particularly in transactions involving institutional investors, private equity funds and regulated structures, including matters exceeding MXN$1 billion in value. Karime maintains direct and ongoing interaction with the CNBV, BMV, BIVA and Indeval, handling regulatory filings, authorizations and execution processes without partner intermediation. Drawing on her experience at leading Mexican law firms, including Nader, Hayaux & Goebel, S.C., Basila Abogados, S.C., and Actio Legal Partners, S.C., Karime co-leads the firm as Senior Associate and Head of Strategy and Transactions, alongside partner Luis Fernando Serrallonga Kaim, the day-to-day execution of complex and often first-of-their-kind transactions. She coordinates multidisciplinary teams and acts as the primary client interface in CKD and CERPI issuances, fund formations and structured financing transactions involving institutional investors, including matters that required bespoke structuring and close interaction with regulators. She is also a published author on securitization matters, having contributed to the International Comparative Legal Guide (ICLG) on Securitisation. Karime has also contributed to professional discourse on capital markets regulation and leadership, publishing an article titled “El futuro de las mujeres en capital markets: Regulación, liderazgo y oportunidades en México” in Abogadas MX, where she discusses regulatory complexity, leadership challenges and gender diversity within the Mexican capital markets.
Karime Jassen plays a leading role in the firm’s capital markets and private equity practice. She is regularly entrusted with day-to-day leadership of transactions, direct client interaction, and negotiation of transaction documentation, acting as the primary execution lawyer on several mandates. Clients highlight her ability to combine technical depth with commercial awareness, responsiveness and hands-on leadership throughout the life of a transaction.
In addition to her transactional work, Karime serves as Head of Strategy, leading internal team development, mentoring junior lawyers and standardizing complex transactional structures across the practice.
