Karen Lam

Karen specialises in complex structured finance, derivatives and securitisation transactions in Asia. She has particular insight into the PRC market access and financial market infrastructures in Asia given her experience as a key member of the team advising the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on the establishment of the China-Hong Kong Stock Connect and Bond Connect trading and clearing platforms, and on the set-up of OTC Clearing Hong Kong Limited, the first and only derivatives central counterparty in Hong Kong.

Karen advises a number of major Chinese banks and securities houses on their repackagings, structured notes and OTC derivatives linked to currency, equity, index, fund, credit and other asset classes as well as repos and securities lending transactions. She also advises originators and arrangers in Asia on asset-backed warehouse financing, covered bond and securitisation transactions over a wide range of underlying assets, including the first covered bond programme by a Korean bank and the first public consumer loan securitisation in Hong Kong SAR.
