Julio Vargas Solano is an Attorney and Notary Public of El Salvador and a Partner at Espino Nieto. For 17 years, he served as Managing Partner of a well-known regional law firm, first in San Salvador and later in San José, Costa Rica. In both locations, he led the firm's regional intellectual property practice, overseeing trademark, patent, and copyright portfolios for local and international clients throughout Central America, and building specialized teams that earned consistent recognition in this area of practice.
Throughout his career, he has managed and protected the trademark portfolios of some of the world's most valuable companies, across sectors such as food and beverage, technology, telecommunications, fashion, footwear, entertainment, and delivery services, among others. In patent matters, he has advised local entities, including government institutions, on international protection of their inventions, guiding them through patent prosecution processes in jurisdictions around the world. He has also handled civil and criminal litigation in defense of internationally renowned brands, obtaining significant court rulings in cases against counterfeiting and the misuse of intellectual property rights.
His practice also includes advisory work on copyright and related rights, data privacy, health registrations, domain names, and administrative and judicial IP litigation, including software licensing matters, assisting clients with dispute resolution and negotiation in these types of disputes.
Julio has also been part of the main governing bodies in this field in El Salvador, where he participates in projects and reforms of laws related to trade, investment, and intellectual property.
He continues to collaborate with Espino Nieto's intellectual property practice, complementing this work with his corporate advisory practice.

- Advised on a Regional Anti-counterfeiting strategy for a globally recognized brand of footwear, in coordination with lawyers in Mexico and Central America, following the civil and criminal procedures against the violations suffered by our client.
