Law Degree and a Specialization in Socioeconomic-Sciences from Universidad Javeriana and a Master of Laws from Cornell University. Since 1977 he has a top-tier private career as a litigator, consultant and arbitrator. In his public life, Mr Esguerra was a Delegate to the 1991 National Constitutional Assembly, Minister of Defense, Ambassador to the United States and Minister of Justice. He is also held in high esteem in the academic sphere. Mr Esguerra has been Dean of the School of Law at Universidad Javeriana and long time Professor of Administrative and Constitutional in various universities. He has also served two times as an ad hoc Justice for the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
Mr Esguerra has published numerous academic articles in specialized legal periodicals and books. He is author of “La Protección Constitucional del Ciudadano” (Constitutional Remedies) (Legis, 2004).
