Career
Co-founding partner, Josh Maximon, focuses his practice on personal injury, commercial litigation, and criminal defense. He previously co-founded and was a partner at a prominent personal injury and criminal defense boutique law firm in Boulder.
Josh and his previous firm had numerous courtroom victories, including receiving the largest jury verdict in the history of the State of Colorado on behalf of a bicyclist tragically injured in a motor vehicle accident. After appellate courts rebuffed several defense efforts at appeal, the defendants paid over $58 million to satisfy the judgment for an extremely deserving client.
Josh has handled hundreds of personal injury and wrongful death cases. Although some cases go to trial, he has also favorably settled numerous others. His track record speaks for itself, and he is honored to represent people in difficult situations who are facing formidable obstacles.
For twelve years, Josh served as the chair of the Boulder branch of the Colorado Criminal defense bar. In that role, he was a member of numerous committees dedicated to social justice in Boulder courts.
As one of the founding members of the Conviction Integrity Unit in the 20th Judicial District, he worked with other members dedicated to identifying and exonerating people who have been wrongfully convicted. Over the past few years, Josh has returned to Alabama to work on a juvenile case for a client previously on death row and currently serving a sentence of life in prison without parole.
Josh’s past experience also includes three years as an international law and policy lecturer at Stanford University for the Overseas Studies Program.
After graduating from the New York University School of Law, he worked as a law clerk for a federal judge who was a trailblazer as the first woman appointed to the federal bench in Colorado. Later, he joined the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as an associate, working with top international lawyers for several notable clients, including the London Stock Exchange and the International Accounting Standards Committee. Josh was also an associate at the New York office of Debevoise & Plimpton, as well as the Denver office of Brownstein Hyatt & Farber.
