Partner at Lathrop Mujica Herrera & Diez Abogados co-leading the tax practice at the firm. José María has over 14 years of professional experience advising companies and family groups on tax, corporate and wealth management matters such as corporate taxation and, reorganizations, investment structuring and financial taxation, wealth structuring and protection as well as regulatory compliance supporting audit processes before the Chilean Internal Revenue Service (SII) and judicial procedures before the Tax and Customs Courts. His practice has focused across various industries such as agriculture, energy, finance, forestry, real estate, logistics, among others.

He has academic experience, serving as a professor in the Diploma in Tax Analysis and Planning program at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and as visiting Professor at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina. Additionally, Mr. Diez is a recognized voice for the media on tax and high net worth management issues; he has published articles in specialized Tax Law journals in various countries and is frequently invited as a speaker at different seminars, both in Chile and abroad, to address topics within his expertise.
