José Alejandro Bermúdez is a leading data protection and privacy practitioner whose expertise provides critical, cross-cutting support to the firm’s competition and antitrust practice, particularly in matters involving data-driven markets, digital platforms and regulatory overlap.

He served as Colombia’s first Data Protection Superintendent (2012–2015), where he played a central role in shaping the country’s data protection framework, including as a promoter of the Colombian Privacy Accountability Guidelines issued by the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), and as a member of the governmental commission responsible for drafting Colombia’s Data Protection Law and its secondary regulations.
