I am a partner within the Clinical Negligence Team at Fieldfisher. I have over 14 years of experience dealing with complex, high-value medical negligence cases. I am a qualified barrister and my work covers many areas including birth injury, brain injury, delayed diagnosis, spinal and orthopaedic injury, nursing negligence and surgical negligence.
I act for the Trustees of the vCJD Compensation Scheme, which manages £67.5 million for families affected by vCJD. In 2017, I won a potentially ground-breaking case in the Court of Appeal which considered the legal duties of care that clinicians might owe to relatives of patients who they are treating for genetic conditions.
I am described in the legal directories as a qualified barrister who is "skilled in handling high-profile cases relating to spinal injury, plastic surgery and birth injuries" and as a lawyer who is "very thoughtful about evidence and tactics", "passionate and courageous" with "…an incredibly inquisitive and analytical mind", "meticulous preparation of cases, sound forensic judgment and impressive command of medical issues". I have been noted as "super-bright and really switched on…", "… an excellent tactical thinker, he has a very good eye for the appropriate commercial settlement and his judgement is outstanding."
