Jonathan has more than 25 years’ experience of advising clients on buying, selling, merging and financing of businesses across a very wide scope of sectors. Including advising on MBOs, MBI, equity finance, debt finance, corporate restructuring and director’s duties.

Jonathan also has substantial management experience as the current managing partner of Freeths’ Milton Keynes office. Previous management roles have included more than 10 years on the Management Board of Freeths and as director of the Chamber of Commerce. Indeed, Jonathan is one of the few corporate lawyers that has actual experience of merging his own business—from when he led the merger of Kimbells (where he was managing partner) with Freeths.

The businesses that Jonathan has acted for include household names such as Motor Parts Direct, London Luton Airport, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland, 3i, Next and Travis Perkins.

In the last 12 months Jonathan has led and worked on more that 25 substantial transactions with a total value in excess of £1 billion

Career

After graduating from Oxford, Jonathan joined leading City firm Slaughter and May where he qualified as a solicitor and did his early years as a corporate lawyer. Later moving out of the City to be head of corporate at Kimbells, and merging with Freeths.

Oxford University BA and MA, and qualified solicitor.

Personal

Away from work Jonathan is married with 2 children, 2 horses, 3 dogs and 2 cats ! Leisure time is spent sailing or watching rugby or cricket.
