Practice Areas
Jonathan accepts instructions in all areas of family law, although he has a particular interest in public and private child law. Jonathan has many years’ experience dealing with complex and difficult children’s cases including cases involving serious non-accidental injury and death, sexual and physical abuse, neglect, substance and alcohol abuse, FII, domestic violence, parental alienation, and cases with an international element.
As such, Jonathan represents local authorities, parents, children, Children’s Guardians, the Official Solicitor and extended family members in all areas of public and private child law including care, wardship, placement, adoption and child arrangements proceedings.
Jonathan places the client at the centre of his practice, ensuring that the client’s position is robustly championed whilst ensuring the provision of realistic, sensitive and effective advice.
Career
Prior to transferring to the bar in 2015, Jonathan had been a solicitor and a head of a provincial law team for over 20 years, where he practiced in all areas of family law, but predominantly public and private child law. Jonathan was a member of the Children Panel (since 1998), Family Law Panel (since 1998) and the Family Law Panel Advanced (since the panel’s inception in 2002).

Personal
Away from work, Jonathan enjoys travel, skiing and is also a 2nd Dan and UKCC level 2 coach in judo.
