Career
As CTO and Vice President of eDiscovery at Level Legal, Jon Robins leads the company's technical strategy, building data workflows for complex data challenges, developing custom solutions for emerging data sources, and advising on defensible eDiscovery practices.
Jon brings more than 20 years of experience across eDiscovery, computer forensics, information technology, and software development to his role at Level Legal. His interest in the intersection of technology and the law began when he assisted with computer forensics on a litigation matter, helping counsel challenge an expert report with his technical analysis. This kickstarted his career helping legal teams solve data challenges, especially complex problems that standard workflows can't address.
Prior to joining Level Legal, Jon served as the national director of eDiscovery operations at Ricoh, where he led eDiscovery operations across a national platform. Today, he applies that operational and technical experience to matters involving emerging issues in eDiscovery, including collecting and analyzing challenging data sources, implementing defensible AI workflows, and creating efficient strategies for managing high-volume matters.
Jon is known for building practical solutions when existing tools fall short. His work often involves turning raw, difficult, or unreviewable data into formats that legal teams can use, review, and produce with confidence. In a recent matter, he built a custom application to extract records from a client’s ticketing system through an application programming interface, convert the data into reviewable PDFs, and prepare it for Relativity. In other matters, he has written applications and built workflows to analyze large data populations, extract key information, and help counsel make earlier, better-informed decisions.
Jon's approach to client service is direct and consultative. He starts with the problem, the data, and the client’s objective before recommending a workflow. He understands that every matter brings its own constraints, tradeoffs, and risks, and he focuses on solutions that preserve context, reduce unnecessary burden, and support a defensible path to the evidence that matters. He exemplifies Level Legal's evidence-first approach to eDiscovery and its focus on documented, explainable workflows with human accountability at the center.
