Jay Darden defends companies and individuals in white-collar criminal matters and government investigations. Mr. Darden’s FCPA practice includes multiple ongoing matters with the Department of Justice and Securities & Exchange Commission. He has represented U.S. and non-U.S. clients in diverse industries, including petrochemicals, infrastructure projects, medical devices, oil field services, professional services, overseas government contractors, and higher education.
Mr. Darden’s non-FCPA representations have included U.S. government contractors and health care providers accused of submitting false claims; an entrepreneur accused of violating export control laws; a news reporter subpoenaed for identities of his confidential sources; a congressional campaign committee defrauded by its former treasurer; a political consultant accused of defrauding a gubernatorial campaign; and more.
Mr. Darden has practiced law for 20 years. Previously, he served as Assistant Chief in the Criminal Division/Fraud Section of the Department of Justice, where he investigated and prosecuted FCPA cases and supervised the investigation and prosecution of health care fraud and anti-kickback violations in District Courts nationwide.
Mr. Darden received the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service, the second-highest award given by the Justice Department.
