John qualified as a Lawyer in 2014 and has significant expertise in both Criminal Defence and Extradition law.

John has gained a reputation for his meticulous case preparation and analytical abilities as well as passionate advocacy on behalf of his clients. He has experience in defending individuals accused of the most serious offences including Murder, Fraud (including complex cases prosecuted by the HMRC) County lines drug allegations and serious sexual offences.

In extradition, he has worked on a number of the leading cases in relation requests from both Part 1 and Part 2 countries. He is also able to deal with cases involving Interpol red notices.

Work Highlights

Crime

R v B – Inner London Crown Court – Allegation of Murder in which the deceased was said to have died circa 10 years after the original assault. Voluminous and complex medical evidence was called as to the question of whether the death could be said to result from the original injuries.

R v D – Blackfriars Crown Court – Multi-handed blackmail and false imprisonment case which was dismissed mid-trial after John uncovered significant issues with the crown’s disclosure.

R v T Ipswich Crown Court – County lines drugs case – defendant acquitted after being found to have been a victim of Modern slavery.

R v E – Southwark Crown Court – Large scale fraud where John’s client was said to be the inside man at Barclays Bank facilitating the fraud.

Extradition

L v Brazil – L was wanted in Brazil in a case connected to the smuggling of rare birds eggs. His extradition was refused on the grounds of his health.

Z v Moldova – Moldovan business man wanted in relation to allegations of fraud and corruption. Arguments were made in relation to prison conditions and the right to a fair trial. The extradition request was refused.

UK v B – John’s client was extradited to the UK from Mexico to serve a 9 year sentence. We successfully argued on his behalf that the sentence could not be enforced due to errors in the warrant.

Romania v B – Romania business man wanted in relation to fraud offences. Extradition was sought on two separate occasions and successfully resisted both times.
