William Bergstrom

Practice Areas

William is a Partner and Head of Extradition in Taylor Rose MW’s Crime and Extradition department.

He is a specialist extradition lawyer with an international reputation, also specialising in all aspects of criminal law, including representation at police stations, Magistrates’ Court, Crown Court and the High Court.

He has substantial experience and success in dealing with Interpol Notices, European Arrest Warrants and worldwide extradition requests, featuring complex technical legal issues, human rights challenges, as well as Immigration and Asylum claims linked to extradition proceedings, which many other solicitors are not able to rival.

Career

William commenced extradition work in 2005. He headed the Extradition Unit at TV Edwards LLP, his previous firm. He joined McMillan Williams Solicitors in October 2016 and became head of department in December 2019 and continues holding this role since the merger of McMillan Williams with Taylor Rose TTKW (Taylor Rose MW).

Publications

William has co-authored the chapter on extradition in the bestselling Blackstone's Magistrates' Court Handbook until the 2017 edition. The book provides a complete practical guide for the busy practitioner and covers all the key aspects of magistrates' court practice, focusing on the area’s most likely to arise at short notice requiring an instant response from the advocate, as well as on those issues most frequently experienced at court.

Personal

Outside of work, William loves to cook (although he's not as skilled in cooking as he is in criminal law). He is also a sports fanatic with a particular interest in football, basketball and motorsports. William loves to go travelling and when away will often find himself relaxing on a beach.
