John is a highly respected specialist in all aspects of property law. He is regularly called on as an expert witness in civil claims and to conduct expert determinations and arbitrations.
With 48 years in practice, John has acted for the Crown, State-owned enterprises, Crown research institutes, major corporates, financial institutions, commercial developers and individuals.
His knowledge of property law is extensive, including construction, development and energy infrastructure projects and unit title developments. He has also taken a lead reform role for the New Zealand Law Society with New Zealand’s pivotal land legislation being the Land Transfer Act 2017, Property Law Act 2007 and Unit Titles Act 2010.
