Career
John Dippold concentrates on construction law, handling complex litigation and high-stakes contract matters for general contractors, subcontractors, developers, and owners across the Pacific Northwest.
His experience spans the full arc of construction disputes — delay claims, design errors, cost overruns, and payment issues — as well as proactive contract drafting and negotiation for major development and design-build projects. Drawing on 30 years of courtroom experience, John brings litigation insight to bear on risk prevention before a dispute ever arises. He also serves on the boards of several notable Northwest contractors, reflecting the depth of trust clients place in his counsel.
John served as President and Managing Partner of Carney Badley Spellman from 2015 to 2025 and as Co-Chair of the firm's Construction Group from 2011 to 2018, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and both federal district courts in Washington.
Professional Memberships
John is a Fellow of the Construction Lawyers Society of America and a member of the American Bar Association, the Associated General Contractors of America, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP), the King County Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, and the Trial Law Institute. He previously served on the Gonzaga Law School Board of Advisors from 2016 to 2020 as well.
