James is the founding partner of ChingCheng Attorneys at Law (https://en.chingcheng-law.com), a full-service law firm headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan. The firm's global network includes branch offices in Nanjing, China, and in New York, USA, where it operates under the name CS Attorneys at Law PLLC. James also founded China Intellectual Property Information and Consulting Co., an IP consulting firm with offices in Taipei and Nanjing. He previously worked as an attorney with Giant IP Group and Baker & McKenzie (Taipei office), and served as Head of Legal for leading companies in the LED and semiconductor sectors. James' legal practice is supported by extensive academic and consulting experience. He notably served as a lecturer at the Graduate Institute of Intellectual Property at the National Taipei University of Technology and acted as a visiting scholar at both the University of California, Berkeley, and Columbia Law School.

James is the author of The Commercialization of Pharmaceutical Patents in China, published by Edward Elgar Publishing in March 2021. This work provides a detailed analysis of the Chinese pharmaceutical sector from a patent law and commercialization perspective.
