Career
A founding partner of Chaffetz Lindsey, James Hosking is a recognized expert in international arbitration, having been counsel in over 100 cases and under the rules of all the leading institutions. His recent cases have involved international commercial contracts, corporate acquisitions, energy/power projects, construction/engineering, JV/shareholder disputes, mining, and investment treaty claims. James has a particular interest in Asia-Latin America disputes, having handled over 20 such cases and as a frequent commentator on the topic.
James has also sat as an arbitrator in around 40 commercial and investor-state cases, having been appointed sole arbitrator, chairperson, co-arbitrator and emergency arbitrator. He is a Fellow of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand and a member of the ICDR Advisory Board.
James is an Adjunct Professor at NYU School of Law and has lectured on international arbitration at universities globally.
