James Bainbridge is a Senior Associate and Head of Crown Court at Cartwright King Solicitors, based in the East Midlands. He is recognised for his extensive experience in serious and complex criminal litigation and for his leadership of the firm’s Crown Court team.
With more than 20 years’ experience, James advises and represents clients at every stage of the criminal justice process, from police station interviews through to Crown Court proceedings. He is known for his calm and pragmatic approach, exceptional client care, and ability to build trust with even the most anxious or vulnerable defendants.
James is frequently instructed in high-profile and sensitive cases involving allegations of serious violence, sexual offences, fraud, and organised crime. He is also noted for his strong strategic sense, meticulous case preparation, and ability to coordinate expert evidence effectively.
In addition to his casework, James plays a key role in mentoring junior lawyers and ensuring consistent service excellence across Cartwright King’s criminal defence practice.
Outside of work, James is a keen sports enthusiast particularly golf and enjoys spending time with his family.
