Hugo is an experienced lawyer specialist in the prevention and resolution of civil disputes, devoting the largest part of his time to acting as counsel in national and international commercial arbitrations, although he also acts as arbitrator. He represents clients in complex conflicts related to contract, corporate and civil liability law. His practice also encompasses insolvency proceedings and debt restructuring.
Prior to joining SOB Advogados, Hugo was a partner at Lobo de Rizzo Advogados (2014-2023) and associate at BMA Advogados (2012-2014) and Dinamarco, Rossi, Beraldo & Bedaque Advogados (2010-2012).
He earned a PhD (2020) and an LL.M in Civil Law (2015), both from Universidade de São Paulo and an LL.B. (2009) from the same university.
Currently, Hugo is the coordinator ofthe M&A and Coorporate Restructuring Committee at CAMARB – Câmara de Mediação e Arbitragem Empresarial. In 2019, Hugo was an Independent Researcher at Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Harvard Law School and Columbia Law School.
He is the author of several books and scientific research articles.
