Commercial litigation, legal malpractice defense

Founding partner of Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton and concentrates his practice on ‘’bet the company” litigation. Harley serves as co-chair of the Steering committee in the Champlain Towers litigation, and has directed a team responsible for recovering just over $1 billion in settlements for the victims of this tragic building collapse. The AAJ recently recognized Harley’s efforts in the CTS litigation by awarding him and his team the Steven J Sharp Public Service Award. He is a “Star Individual” recognized by Chambers in commercial litigation and has achieved similar recognition in other leading legal directories. While the majority of his practice now focuses on representing plaintiffs, he regularly represents businesses and law firms in their most challenging commercial cases. He lectures on commercial litigation issues, including the management of complex litigation, the presentation of damages in commercial litigation, and trial advocacy. He is an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at the University of Miami law school and teaches seminars on complex litigation and negotiation. Harley has served as a member of the state and federal judicial nominating commissions. He was recognized by the University of Miami law school as their most outstanding alumnus and is a three time winner of the “Most Effective Lawyer Award” in commercial litigation given by the Daily Business Review. In 2016, Harley received the Learned Hand award by the American Jewish Committee.
