Guy Tritton is a barrister in the field of Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment and IT. His practice includes patents, copyright, designs, franchising, competition law and IT/tech disputes. He has appeared in most tribunals including the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, Court of Justice of European Union, European Patent Office, the Trade Mark Registry, VAT Tribunal and Crown Court.

Guy Tritton is regularly cited as a leading practitioner in Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment and IT in legal directories. He was awarded IP Barrister of the Year in 2023 by Legal500.

Guy Tritton has a strong scientific background having read Nat.Science (maths, physics and computing) at university and has written a number of commercially sold programs.

He has many reported cases to his name ranging from complex telecoms patent disputes to music copyright disputes (he is a proficient pianist)

He works with a wide range of clients from multinationals and individuals.

He is widely regarded as having a very hands-on and commercial attitude to cases. In early years, he had an extensive criminal practice which honed his advocacy skills and wrote an Advocacy Handbook for Inner Temple (Inns of Court, London)

He is the chief author of Intellectual Property in Europe (6th edition, 2022, Thomson Reuters), a book often cited in Advocate-General’s Opinions and is the text book in several European universities.
