Practice Areas

Guy Lachmann is a partner at Pearl Cohen, Co-Chair of the firm’s Israel Hi-Tech Practice Group, and Head of its Japan and Germany Desks. He has built a towering reputation at the heart of the technology ecosystem, advising companies, founders, and investors on the legal and strategic decisions that drive growth.

Guy focuses on venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate and commercial matters for technology companies. He works closely with emerging growth companies and their investors, guiding them through financing rounds, strategic partnerships, global expansion, and exit transactions. His work often begins at the earliest stages of a company’s development and continues through later-stage growth, acquisition, or preparation for public markets.

PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS

His clients include founders, venture capital funds, corporate venture arms, strategic investors, and multinational companies across a wide range of sectors, including fintech, blockchain, artificial intelligence, enterprise software, cybersecurity, digital health, ag-tech, and food-tech. Many of these engagements involve complex cross-border considerations, particularly where Israeli companies collaborate with or receive investment from international corporations.

A substantial part of Guy’s practice involves venture capital and strategic investment transactions. He represents venture capital and corporate venture capital investors in financing rounds ranging from pre-seed and seed investments to growth-stage and pre-IPO financings. Many of these investments involve corporations and investment arms based in Japan, Germany, and the United States. In these transactions, Guy helps clients structure investments, negotiate financing terms, and align commercial collaborations with investment arrangements.

He also advises companies and investors on venture lending and other financing structures, including hybrid arrangements that combine strategic partnerships with equity investment. Alongside venture financing work, Guy regularly advises on mergers and acquisitions involving technology companies at different stages of development. Many of these deals have cross-border elements, particularly where Israeli technology companies are acquired by international corporations or where global investors acquire stakes in Israeli businesses.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS & INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION

Guy’s work frequently involves helping technology companies expand into international markets. In addition to structuring transactions, he advises on commercial agreements, joint ventures, and strategic collaborations that enable companies to establish partnerships and distribution channels abroad. Through his leadership of Pearl Cohen’s Japan and Germany Desks, he plays a central role in connecting Israeli technology companies with investors and corporate partners in those jurisdictions.

Career

Earlier in his career, Guy served on the editorial board of Law and Business, the law review of Reichman University, and participated in academic programmes at both Reichman University and Tel Aviv University focusing on technology, entrepreneurship, and venture capital.
