Career
Admitted as a Solicitor in 1982.
Glenn has specialised in maritime law for over 40 years. He has huge experience, having been instructed in thousands of arbitrations (including recovering sums in excess of US $500 million for the Frontline/Golden Ocean Group in a series of arbitrations against shipyards), in many high-profile Court cases (including The Starsin, The Erika and The Ocean Victory) and over 60 mediations.
He has acted for many of the same Clients (including Skuld, Spliethoff, Genco and Pacnav) for decades.
Glenn studied at the University of Oxford and has taught at the University of Illinois.
Work Highlights
Career highlights include:
- Visiting Fellowship at the College of Law, University of Illinois.
- Acting for the successful carrier in The Starsin (House of Lords).
- Recovering over US$500 million in a series of arbitrations under Shipbuilding Contracts with Chinese Yards.
- LNG vessel named after him by John Fredriksen following a successful arbitration.
- Primary draftsman of the Inter-Club Agreement 1996.
- Primary draftsman of Skuld’s Rules (1996).
- Representing successful Owners (without Counsel) against Leading Counsel in an arbitration hearing relating to the construction of a standard war risk clause (The Paiwan Wisdom).
- Giving expert evidence on behalf of Total Transport Corporation in The Erika (Cour de Cassation in Paris).
- Acting in a mediation resulting in a claim in excess of US$100million being settled on a drop hands basis.
- Acting for the successful intermediate charterers (Sinochart) in defeating a claim for US$180 million in The Ocean Victory (Supreme Court).
- Acting in a mediation in London and in Tema resulting in recovery of US$70 million.
