Frederic Theodore ‘Ted’ Le Clercq is a Chambers rated 35-year litigation problem-solver across two states, consistently achieving good results and also matching clients with the right Deutsch Kerrigan attorney for the nature of that fight. Ted serves as the point person for multiple carriers across Louisiana and Mississippi. Understanding that each client and business is unique, Ted listens carefully to what is driving a particular case and then focuses on delivering an efficient legal solution.
While Ted’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, he has extensive experience representing clients in all areas of employment litigation. Additionally, he is active in professional liability litigation, civil rights litigation, and constitutional law matters. Ted is well-versed in coverage issues and oversees a team of lawyers managing those cases. His experience also includes developing a national coordinating counsel program for a Fortune 200 national retailer, where he has handled high-value personal injury claims.
Ted’s life revolves around work, family, and community. He chairs the firm's Commercial Litigation Department and began his legal career as a law clerk for a Federal District Court judge. He has been married to his wife, Courtney, for 31 years, and together they have three children: Douglas, Price, and Susan. His assistant, Tammy Ducoing, has been a valued part of his professional life for 22 years.
Just as the law and family are central to Ted’s life, so is his commitment to community. He has chaired numerous non-profit boards, recognizing that these organizations often bridge critical gaps in society and play a vital role in regional success. Ted currently serves as Board Chair of LCMC Health Systems, a 3b non-profit healthcare entity with eight hospitals in the greater New Orleans area, including Manning Family Children’s Hospital, East Jefferson General Hospital, New Orleans East Hospital, Touro, University Medical Center, West Jefferson Medical Center, Lakeview Hospital, and Lakeside Hospital.
Ted and Courtney’s daughter, Susan, was successfully treated at Manning Family Children’s for childhood cancer some 17 years ago. Thank you to Archie, Olivia, and the whole Manning family, local heros that they are, for joining us in 2024 so that no child ever needs to leave the state to be cured. We stand in the gap for kids at Manning Family Children’s.
Outside the office, he is an avid gardener, a passion he shared with his Charleston grandmother. For Ted, gardening offers a peaceful contrast to the demands of managing high-stakes litigation. When it comes to fun, Ted enjoys watersports, including Hobie Getaway sailing, paddle-boarding, and surfing.
