Career
Fabiola Medina Garnes is a founding partner of Medina Garnes Abogados. She has extensive experience in the practice of the profession in the public sector and in the private sector. She was Principal Assistant to the Legal Consultant of the President of the Republic (1982-1985) and has practiced as Associate Attorney and Partner in renowned firms in the Dominican Republic.
In 1992 she began her corporate career at Verizon Dominicana (known today as CLARO), the main telecommunications company in the Dominican Republic, becoming the Legal and Regulatory Vice President of Verizon Dominicana (1996-2004); and the Secretary of the Board of Directors of Verizon Dominicana (1996-2004).
Professional Memberships
Member of the International Court of Arbitration (ICC) (2005-2012) and is recognized for her great leadership in the field of arbitration in the Dominican Republic. She chaired the Santo Domingo Alternative Dispute Resolution Center (CRC) of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo and currently is the Second Vice-President of the Board of Directors of said Chamber of Commerce. Fabiola Medina is co-author of the Arbitration and Conciliation Regulations of the Conciliation and Arbitration Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo and had an outstanding participation in the preparation and approval of the Commercial Arbitration Law 489-08 and the modification of the Arbitration Chapter of Law 50-87 on Chambers of Commerce.
Additionally, Fabiola Medina was President of the Disciplinary Court of the Bar Association of the Dominican Republic, past President of the Dominican Association of Business Lawyers (ADAE), of the Institutionality and Justice Foundation (FINJUS) and of the Board of Directors of the Technological Institute University of Santo Domingo (INTEC).
