Ewa Rutkowska-Subocz

Ewa Rutkowska-Subocz is an environmental law expert with environmental law forming the core of her practice.

Ewa advises on environmental permitting processes, contaminated land issues, crisis management, environmental liabilities, environmental impact assessments and administrative and court proceedings, environmental, Prosecutor and Police inspections in environmental matters, with a particular focus on environmental decisions for complex investment projects, as well as chemical regulations: REACH, CLP and PFAS.

A significant part of her work involves projects facing regulatory risk, public opposition and active participation of NGOs and local communities (NIMBY).

She supports infrastructure, energy and industrial investments throughout the full lifecycle of the environmental process – from strategic structuring of the environmental approach, through administrative proceedings, to obtaining and effectively defending key environmental decisions that determine whether a project can be implemented.

Her experience includes handling high-stakes environmental disputes, where environmental law, administrative procedure and litigation strategy must be managed together to secure project feasibility and legal certainty.

In addition to environmental law, Ewa's practice also covers product and regulatory law, with a focus on EU environmental and product safety requirements applicable to products, supply chains and market access.

Ewa Rutkowska-Subocz is the Founding Partner of ERS Legal (environmental law boutique law firm), with over 27 years of experience in environmental law. She is consistently ranked Band 1 in Environment (Poland) by Chambers Europe, and recognised as a Stand-out Lawyer by Thomson Reuters and a Leader by Rzeczpospolita.

Prior to being a Partner with ERS Legal, for 15 years she has been a Partner with Dentons Europe, heading Dentons’ Public Law and Regulatory Practice in Europe and Environmental Protection Practice in Poland.
