Emilie Morrison

Ranked in the current editions of both Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 Emilie Morrison is an experienced and sought-after criminal barrister with an established practice in serious and complex crime. Called in 2013, Emilie is regularly instructed in cases involving homicide, historic sexual offences, large-scale drug conspiracies, financial crime, and serious violence.

Emilie acts for both the prosecution and defence and is experienced both as a led junior and as sole counsel. Recognised for the ability to identify the central issues in a case with speed and precision, Emilie is adept at distilling complex evidence into clear, persuasive and compelling submissions. She is frequently instructed in cases involving substantial volumes of material, sensitive subject matter, and vulnerable witnesses and defendants.

Emilie was recently instructed as junior defence counsel for the first defendant in R v Aninakwa, a ground-breaking prosecution of a ward manager and NHS Trust for manslaughter arising from a suicide on a psychiatric ward.

Emilie also has experience of cases involving the intersection of criminal and public law having acted in Judicial Review Proceedings before the High Court.

Emilie has an established practice in regulatory law and frequently represents clients at the full range of fitness-to-practice and disciplinary proceedings obtaining consistently good results.
