Elliot Lewis

Elliot is a Partner and has been Head of the Thackray Williams’ Private Client Department since 2014.

Elliot looks after a wide range of individuals, from those with relatively straightforward circumstances, through to very wealthy clients with substantial assets, both business and personal, in various jurisdictions across the world. Elliot has a vast amount of experience looking after clients who are in the entertainment industry, those who have been writers or illustrators and issues surrounding royalties which many of his clients benefit from. Elliot has also looked after those who are in professional sports especially football over the years.

Elliot particularly specialises in looking after clients with Business interests, maximising the benefit of Business relief and working with other professional advisers to get the best outcome for his clients. He also assists clients with the creation of Trusts both during lifetime or within Wills as part of a holistic approach to tax planning. Family Investment Companies are also an area Elliot has advised upon often as an alternative to Trusts working alongside our Commercial team to advise on the structure of these arrangements.

Elliot is in the process of being appointed as a Panel Deputy with the Office of the Public Guardian and regularly acts as a Deputy for many clients as well as an Attorney and is supported by his team in The Older and Vulnerable client section of the firm’s Private Client department in carrying out these responsibilities.

As a Trustee, Elliot acts for a significant number of clients in respect of their Private Trusts; in this connection Elliot is supported by a full time Trust Manager who deals with the day to day administration of these arrangements as well as all the regulatory and tax reporting requirements.

Elliot qualified in the mid 1990’s and worked for both regional and central London firms before joining Thackray Williams in 2003 before becoming a partner in 2004. When Elliot became a partner in 2004 the Private Client team was less than a quarter of its current size but working alongside his colleagues many of whom are still in the department the team has grown by over 400% over the past 20 years and has been recognised in Chambers guides for many years for the quality of its advice having recently won Tax and Trusts Team of the year at the prestigious British Wills and Probate Awards 2025..
