Practice Areas

Elizabeth has extensive experience in the international trade and transportation of a wide range of commodities, particularly coal, metals, iron ore, LNG, crude oil and oil products.

She is a partner in the Energy & Natural Resources Group. Elizabeth understands the interplay between regulatory, strategic, compliance and legal issues in the commodities industry. That understanding comes in part through her significant in-house experience, gained through three secondments to commodities trading businesses.

Elizabeth has been ranked as a “Next Generation Partner" by Legal 500 UK for Commodities Disputes for the past eight years. She is also recognised by The Best Lawyers directory for international trade.

A significant part of Elizabeth’s practice involves dispute resolution, both in international arbitration and the English Commercial Court. Her cases have ranged from disputes around sanctions, fraud in commodities trading, joint venture disputes, as well as sale of goods disputes involving dangerous goods, force majeure, quality and quantity problems, and failure to open letters of credit on time.

Elizabeth also has extensive transactional experiences of complex structured transactions, often involving long term offtake arrangements, repos, flash title transactions, and numerous other agreements relating to the sale, storage and transportation of commodities.
