Efstathios is the Head of our Tax Controversy and Litigation practice group and is admitted to the Athens Bar Association.
He has extensive experience in advising Greek and multinational clients (both individuals and legal entities) across a variety of industry sectors, including real estate, banking, insurance, e-commerce, hotels and leisure, retail, pharma, telecoms, gaming, shipping, energy, technology and education, on all stages of tax controversy.
Efstathios is a highly esteemed and well-experienced tax litigator, having successfully handled numerous complex cases before the tax authorities, the Dispute Resolution Directorate and the competent Administrative Courts and especially the Council of State.
Efstathios has considerably influenced the Greek tax jurisprudence, as he has been involved in a series of landmark cases before the Council of State, including the groundbreaking plenary decision for the statute of limitations for the Greek State’s right to impose taxes.
In addition, Efstathios has successfully represented clients in criminal tax cases.
Efstathios is the Tax Counsel of the Athens Bar Association, as well as of the Plenary of Greek Bar Associations.
He has actively participated in several preparatory committees on new tax legislation and has authored several books and publications on tax law issues.
He has also lectured in and coordinated the Postgraduate Program in Tax Law/ Taxation of Athens University of Economics and Business from 2010 until 2020.
