Ed is a capital markets Counsel based in London with extensive experience acting on a variety of complex structured financing transactions across multiple asset classes, including products linked to one or more of debt securities, loans, interest rates, commodities, equities, funds and inflation indices. In particular, he has a market-leading specialism on the SPIRE securitised note programme, the leading multi-dealer securities platform in the world, regularly advising over 18 of the world’s largest banks on their structured financing needs.

Ed also advises a number of institutions on both the buy-side and sell-side with respect to private securitisations, helping banks achieve regulatory capital benefits and/or investors achieve an enhanced return on their risk exposure. In addition, he has also worked on a number of high-profile physical and synthetic exchange-traded products, including both Granite’s synthetic equities linked offering and Amundi’s physical gold-linked securities programme. Aside from transactional work, Ed was a key contact to some of the market’s leading institutions on major industry reforms of recent years, including transition projects in the wake of both Brexit and the cessation of LIBOR.

During his time at Linklaters, Ed has spent time on secondment in the derivatives legal team at Credit Suisse as well as time abroad in the Linklaters Hong Kong office, giving him a better understanding of the differing commercial and cultural needs of clients and geographical markets. For a number of years, he has also worked closely with the graduate recruitment team and is passionate about talent spotting and retention.
