Eddy Ureña is a partner at the firm and co-leader of the Dispute resolution practice. His extensive experience and knowledge in the legal and regulatory aspects of Dispute Resolution include, among others, civil, labour, and commercial litigation, as well as arbitration.
He manages one of the largest litigation portfolios in the market, representing clients from sectors such as banking and finance, insurance, real estate and construction, energy, hospitality, food and beverage, among others, in complex disputes.
Eddy is deeply involved in the banking and financial sector of the Dominican Republic, addressing complex corporate matters on a daily basis, such as breach of contract and piercing the corporate veil, as well as the recovery of overdue loan portfolios, including mortgage-backed products, securities, guarantees, and joint guarantees.
Experience
His recent cases include: the successful representation of a major multinational baby products company in a complex lawsuit over a breach of a distribution agreement with a local company; the representation of a hotel in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, in a complex labour dispute filed by a former senior executive seeking compensation for wrongful termination; the representation of a fiduciary services provider in a lawsuit for the dissolution of two trusts related to residential construction projects, due to breach of contract and fraud committed by the construction company; the representation of a leading bank in criminal proceedings and asset seizures against a debtor; and the representation of private clients in complex inheritance matters, among others.
