Douglas B Buchanan KC

Project development, project finance and project M&A, with an emphasis on infrastructure, public-private partnerships, natural resources and power generation. He has practiced in the infrastructure sector for more than 20 years and acted on over 60 public-private partnership transactions across a range of asset classes in both the USA and Canada.

Douglas Buchanan, Q.C. is a senior counsel and Co-Head, North American Infrastructure at both Norton Rose Fulbright US and Norton Rose Fulbright Canada. Prior to joining Norton Rose Fulbright Mr. Buchanan was for over 5 years the co-head of the global infrastructure and project finance group at an international law firm based in New York, and for 29 years prior to that he was a lawyer and partner at a national Canadian law firm where he served two terms as the national managing partner.

Mr. Buchanan is admitted to the practice of law in British Columbia and Ontario and is licensed to practice as a legal consultant in New York State. He received a B. Comm. from University of British Columbia in 1976 and a L.L.B. from University of British Columbia Faculty of Law in 1984. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in British Columbia in 2007.
