Dianne specializes in counseling health care clients and other commercial entities on a broad range of privacy and data security issues, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), 42 CFR Part 2, and state-imposed medical privacy laws. She has successfully defended clients in both civil and criminal HIPAA enforcement actions and compliance reviews and regularly counsels clients through data breaches and cyber incidents, including large-scale data breaches. As former in-house counsel to an academic medical center, a large part of her practice involves counseling researchers and research sponsors in matters related to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) regulated clinical research, including patient consent, access to and/or the provision of tissue and patient information for outcomes research, AI algorithm training, personalized medicine and other purposes.
