He was the only silk to lead the Commercial Bar’s response to the consultation on digital assets and assisted in drafting the Virtual Asset Service Providers Travel Rules.

Dean has represented clients in numerous high profile cases and is a trusted advisor to individuals and corporates. He has deep expertise on the law of digital assets, blockchain and NFTs, and the intersection of criminal and civil corporate responsibility. His practice also encompasses Artificial Intelligence, and data law including GDPR. In his corporate advisory work, he is recognised for diverse and pragmatic solutions.

He has authored books for the legal profession on blockchain and cryptocurrency, cyber security, cyber litigation, and cryptocurrency in matrimonial law.

Career

Called to the Bar in 1985, Dean developed broad experience in the law before spending six years specialising in corporate finance law. He turned his attention to digital assets and cyber law before these areas had become mainstream and he has been, and continues to be, instructed in the leading cases in this field.
