David Turner KC specialises in commercial insurance and reinsurance, professional liability (principally accountants (both complex tax planning and auditors’ negligence), brokers and solicitors) and commercial product liability disputes. David’s practice has typically involved large-scale disputes in the Commercial Court, Chancery Division, the Technology and Construction Court and in both domestic and international arbitration. Current and recent cases include the Grenfell Tower fire (where David leads the team handling recovery claims for RBKC), the FCA’s Business Interruption Test Case, in which David led a team of counsel from 4 New Square for RSA; a substantial dispute in the TCC about a municipal waste plant procured and operated under a PFI contract; an international arbitration about the management of a luxury hotel in the UAE, and sitting as an arbitrator in international arbitrations arising out of a quota share reinsurance treaty between a GCC-based cedant and its reinsurer and a substantial D&O coverage claim brought by the ex-CEO of a large GCC telecoms company.
