Practice Areas
David's practice is restricted to serving on international arbitration tribunals dealing with a broad range of subject matters, including energy, intellectual property, telecommunications, pharmaceutical issues and coal and other types of mining issues and other forms of complex commercial business dealings. He serves in relation to both investor state and commercial disputes.
These disputes frequently entail Energy Charter Treaty claims as well as arbitrations involving pricing, trading, producing, transmitting, refining and marketing of energy products.
David's experience includes construction and contract disputes, pipeline procurement and construction disputes, farmout agreements, royalty interpretation disputes, operating procedures disputes, lease interpretation and oil and gas evaluations and joint venture agreements.
Career
David was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1984. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and of the Construction Lawyers Society of America. David is also a Fellow and Chartered Arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (F.C.I.Arb., C.A. C.I.Arb.).
David served as the national Chair of the Canadian ICC Committee for 6 years and as a Director of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) for 12 years.
