David Reader enters the rankings this year. He is an rising barrister with a specialism in assisting with a wide range of public policing orders, including gang injunctions, slavery and trafficking orders, and sexual risk orders.

Strengths

David Reader is confident in negotiating with duty solicitors, counsel, and handles multiple cases in a day with ease and is often successful in our applications.

We instruct David Reader on a nearly daily basis to deal with ancillary order applications on behalf of police forces that are heard in the Magistrates courts.

I regularly defend cases where David Reader prosecutes. He is excellent counsel who is always fair-minded and prosecutes with integrity.

Individual Editorial

David Reader of 1 Crown Office Row is recognised for his involvement in large-scale public inquiries, including the UK COVID-19 and Infected Blood Inquiries. He is also instructed by public bodies in inquests, alongside being a member of the Attorney General’s C Panel.

Strengths

David has a strong work ethic, a very good grip on the detail and really critical skills. He produced quality goods from complex documents.

David showed great attention to detail and developed strong relationships with the parties involved. He was impressive.

David Reader is a very good advocate who is very well prepared and has a lot of respect from others. This case is particularly complex, and he is handling it beautifully.

He has a quick grasp of very complex technical issues, and he has the ability to make clients feel at ease no matter how stressful the circumstances. I can highly recommend David.
