He has nearly 20 years’ experience of conducting significant criminal litigation and advocacy, having been admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1996, gained higher courts rights in 2002, and called to the Bar in 2015. His experience as a solicitor is a powerful asset, giving him an acute insight into the pre-trial process and enabling him to establish an easy rapport with instructing solicitors and opposing teams.

Since his call, David has developed a senior practice, receiving instructions in a range of serious and complex cases, including murder, manslaughter, attempted murder, bribery, serious and historic sexual offending, and child cruelty. His capacity to support vulnerable witnesses through examination and tease the best testimony out of them makes him popular with judges and juries alike. David is also experienced in defending cases of financial and corporate crime, where his attention to detail is outstanding. He balances these significant legal aid cases with private instructions.

David is a Recorder of the Crown Court and authorised to sit at the Central Criminal Court.
