Practice Areas
Catherine acts for the prosecution and the defence in cases of homicide, organised crime and serious sexual offending. She has an excellent reputation for leading complex litigation, often involving cross-jurisdictional and complex disclosure issues, and is particularly admired for her superb organisation and approachability.
In court, she is lauded for her calm but steely approach to her cases, winning the trust of vulnerable witnesses and clients as well as judges and juries.
Catherine has been commended by Europol and twice by the Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police in recognition of these skills.
She is highly respected in cases involving sexual offending and is often instructed pre and post charge in high-profile and legally complex cases, providing advice to both the prosecution and defence as well as to complainants seeking to appeal decisions by the police and CPS not to charge. Her expertise in this area is demonstrated by the fact that she is often approached to provide training in this area to the Crown Prosecution Service and to other barristers.
Career
Recent cases involve the prosecution of a businessman and others in the Gray's Inn bomb plot case and the high-profile prosecutions of Metropolitan Police officers for serious sexual offences.
