Daniel is a Principal at Senet and leads the Legal practice together with Julian Hoskins. He is one of the most experienced lawyers in Australia specialising in gambling law and regulation and has extensive experience in the broader gambling sector both from an in-house and private practice perspective.

Daniel advises on licensing, transactional and contentious matters where he leverages strong commercial expertise to provide practical and solution-focused advice. Daniel’s clients range from innovative startups, listed global gambling groups, technology, payments and other service providers and regulators across the racing, sporting, wagering, gaming, and casinos sectors. Daniel also advises on matters spanning statutory interpretation, investigations, commercial contracting, media law, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, mergers and acquisitions, investigations, gambling taxation and sports and racing integrity matters. His deep industry involvement is evident through his contributions as a speaker at domestic and international industry conferences and briefings to listed Australian gambling organisations.

Prior to commencing with Senet, Daniel occupied various general counsel and regulatory roles at Tabcorp Holdings Limited, Australia’s largest gambling and entertainment provider. Daniel advised the Board and management on both local and international legal and regulatory matters and led several important projects and commercial and litigious matters. This included advising on the complex $11 billion merger of the Tabcorp and Tatts groups in 2017 to become one of the world’s largest entertainment groups and on numerous licensing and other strategic projects in Australia and internationally. Daniel also worked as a solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills practising in corporate and commercial law.

Daniel is highly sought after by some of the world’s largest and most successful gambling and gaming operators, many of whom are publicly listed in Australia and/or internationally, as well as Commonwealth and State regulators, the racing industry, large law firms and other key stakeholders.

Daniel has extensive qualifications, including a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Melbourne Business School and a first class honours degree in Commerce and Law from the University of Sydney. Daniel has also undertaken leadership training at Harvard University and has post-graduate qualifications in finance.

Daniel is a member of the International Association of Gaming Advisors and has a deep interest in the sector. He enjoys building strong relationships and applying legal and commercial acumen and insight to create meaningful value.
