Julian is a Principal at Senet and leads the Legal practice together with Daniel Lovecek. He is one of the most experienced lawyers in Australia specialising in gambling law and regulation and is ranked by Chambers and Partners Global and Asia Pacific as a leading expert in gambling law and regulation, as well as by Who's Who Legal as a Global Leader in gaming. Julian was also previously recognised by Legal500 in the GC Powerlist: Australia and New Zealand as one of the Top 100 General Counsel for Australia and New Zealand.

Julian provides specialist advice in relation to corporate bookmaker licensing, mergers and acquisitions, racing industry matters, sports and racing integrity arrangements, gambling advertising, new product approvals, anti-money laundering, regulatory compliance, and general commercial issues. His deep industry involvement is evident through his contributions as a speaker at domestic and international industry conferences and other events.

Prior to commencing with Senet, he held various General Counsel roles with Tabcorp, being one of the world’s largest gambling and entertainment companies, over a period of almost 10 years. Prior to Tabcorp, Julian held several senior positions in large law firms in Australia and Europe, predominantly acting for clients operating in highly regulated markets including those in the gambling sector.

Julian is highly sought after by some of the world’s largest and most successful gambling and gaming operators, many of whom are publicly listed in Australia and/or internationally, as well as the racing industry, large law and consulting firms and other key stakeholders.

Julian holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Master of Laws. He is a member of the International Association of Gaming Advisors and the Law Institute of Victoria.
