Julian is one of Australia’s most experienced lawyers in gambling law and regulation, co-leading the legal practice with Daniel Lovecek.
He is ranked by Chambers and Partners Global and Asia Pacific as a leading expert in gambling and gaming and has been included in the GC Powerlist: Australia and New Zealand by Legal500, highlighting him as one of the Top 100 General Counsel in the region.
Julian has held senior positions in Top-Tier law firms in Australia, Jersey (Channel Islands) and Europe, specialising in mergers and acquisitions and capital markets, predominantly acting for highly regulated clients including those in the gambling sector, some of the world’s leading banks, non-bank financial institutions, corporates and insurers.
Whilst working with King and Wood Mallesons upon return from Jersey, Julian was engaged on a 3 month secondment to Tabcorp, one of the world’s largest gambling and entertainment companies. Julian was soon approached and appointed as General Counsel of Tabcorp, and for a period of almost 10 years, held various General Counsel roles within the company, including reporting to the Board and leading a team of around 50 people.
Julian holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne, and is a member of the International Association of Gaming Advisors.
