Career
Clarel Benoit read law at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, England and is a barrister of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, England.
A former state counsel and magistrate, he was also a lecturer at the Law Faculty of the University of Mauritius and taught company law at the Council of Legal Education.
A legal consultant within Benoit Chambers, Clarel’s areas of expertise cover the whole spectrum of general corporate and business law including take-overs, public and private mergers and acquisitions, equity capital issues, reorganisations and joint ventures, offshore fund work and insolvency issues.
Over the span of his 30 years of experience, Clarel has developed an extensive corporate clientele, both locally and internationally. He has also developed a regional practice advising on the acquisition of businesses in the Republic of Maldives, Madagascar, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
