Christina Martinez, or Marty, specializes in appellate litigation while maintaining a broad trial practice across a wide variety of civil cases, representing clients of diverse industries and backgrounds.
Christina’s appellate practice in South Florida has resulted in her authoring or co-authoring over 30 appellate briefs before the Florida District Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit, and even the U.S. Supreme Court. She has presented multiple oral arguments in the state’s appellate court system, arguing appeals on issues related to personal jurisdiction and punitive damages amendments, among other topical matters. Additionally, Christina is an experienced advocate at the trial level, having handled high-profile cases at every stage, from preliminary investigation to trial. She has taken numerous depositions, briefed and argued important pretrial motions, and presented arguments and examined witnesses at trial.
Prior to joining Podhurst, Christina served as a law clerk to the Honorable Adalberto Jordan in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and to the Honorable Cecilia M. Altonaga, currently the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Before returning to her hometown of Miami, Christina worked as an associate at the leading international law firm Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York, where she worked primarily on complex commercial litigation and international disputes in Latin America.
